my coworker told me about "no tech tuesdays" a few weeks ago. it's a weekly routine that he and his gf started a while back. on tuesdays, my coworker can use technology at work and is allowed to quickly check email in the morning. but the whole purpose for no tech tuesdays was to read more books (not blogs, online newspapers, etc), spend more time with his girlfriend and baby, and just let go of the internets, movies, tv for at least one day per week. i was very intrigued and i asked him if i could adopt it for my own life.
i started 3 weeks ago.
i've failed every week!
but after listening to pastor rankin's sermon on fasting this past sunday, i was convicted to really really try succeeding at no tech tuesdays. what a coincidence that my coworker and this sermon were introduced to me just weeks apart from one one another. for the first time in 3-4 months, i picked up my Bible yesterday. i actually spent time reading it. and it was glorious.
i want to share two passages that spoke to me in the book of Micah. Micah is an amazing book in the Bible...i really want to paint a picture and have someone do some gorgeous calligraphy of these verses one day. i hope they encourage you as they have encouraged me:
Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:7-8
Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea. You will be true to Jacob, and show mercy to Abraham, as you pledged on oath to our fathers in days long ago. Micah 7:18-20
thank You for Your faithfulness.
