i don't find myself wanting to blog lately. but at the same time, i know the good people of the world would like to be updated...or so i'd like to think.
this will be a hodge podge of thoughts in no coherent order. reminder to self: clear internet cache/history at the end of the night. it's a slow night at work so i decided to blog. another note to self: be thankful for the calmer, more peaceful nights at work....
my stomach is bubbly from the korean food i ate for dinner tonight. i was just thinking about this, but i am so very blessed to live in a multicultural city with amazing food. in the past week, i've had dim sum, macarons, chaat, ramen, un burrito...i live/eat/die in LA, that's for sure. a lot of people drink the LA haterade (and the 40 minute traffic jammed commute to work last friday made me drink some of it too), but i know how ridiculously lucky i am to live in this crazy city.
i need to make a more conscious effort to keep in contact with my friends. i need to call sally back. i need to videochat with morgan and stacie soon. i need to keep up with my friends in LA. i think of these things and i fool myself into thinking that i'm just sooooo busy when i'm really not. i haven't talked to this one girlfriend of mine for three months. just caught up with her over the phone last week and i find out that 1) she moved to another state and 2) that she's engaged! i am sooooo super ecstatic and happy for her! and i feel so honored that she asked me to be a bridesmaid :) but really, all this happened in three months?! i need to be more on top of this.
social networks are not social. i have hundreds of friends on facebook but i had only a handful of friends to text or call this past weekend to go bike riding on the beach. it was a gorgeous day with plenty of sunshine (side note: we are so spoiled in socal...THIS is fall weather?!). anyway, i hate that as you grow older, it's harder to be spontaneous. all of my hangouts have to be planned, especially in LA. everyone got back to me too late about bike riding...so i watched Planet B-Boy on netflix streaming instead (pity party pity party).
so i guess that brings me to my depressing post in october. i think mama choi said it best: "the hardest thing to go through is ordinary life." i wholeheartedly agree. you may think it's silly but it's grappling with adulthood that i'm struggling most with now.
i had the most amazing opportunity to have two thursday nights off to actually attend my community group, and i really think that's what triggered me to be social again. i am really thankful that hermitdom is away in the shadows for the time being.
honestly, i miss my friends.
i miss having my friends in close proximity.
but i think that's a part of growing up too...dealing with the fact that friends are living their separate lives, sometimes faraway in another state or only just cities away.
i am created to be loved and to love. thank God for that...
i wonder when i'll start dating? my older friends tell me to enjoy my single days.
stream of consciousness blog entry. over & out.
oh "ehnie", your blog has become a favorite read of mine--sorry for being the perpetual hermit in your life, I am trying to be better.
