February 29, 2012

february 29th.

happy leapy!

oh february 29th, you fickle, fickle day. you only come every 4 years, and you get everyone around me to ask, "what are you gonna do with your extra day?"

so what did i end up doing on feb 29, 2012?

i considered going to a happy hour with college alumni, the LA chapter (aka strangers), but i just didn't want to spend my extra day doing that. today i wished i had an annual pass to disneyland since it's open 24 hours on leap year. i didn't actually entertain too many options, and ended up following through with my usual routine as of late - work, bikram yoga, grocery shopping. i also went to dinner with the familia, and though that sounds like it's of the norm, it kind of wasn't for me. you see, i've been resisting family time lately - dealing with a lot of internal struggles actually - so dining with my parents and my sister tonight was a great way to spend my extra day. we went to the cheesecake factory, which my parentals think is the bee's knees. papa choi even said "the quality here is so much better than mcdonalds!" and "this is much better than von's!" -- it's nice to see them enjoy higher quality food, which is something my sis and i take for granted. and to see my parents in such good moods (they took a mini vacation this week), reminded me of real joy...pure joy. it was a great february 29th.

to completely switch gears...

two obsessions that i've recently finished:
- downton abbey: thank you very much, amazon prime free trial! mary is so pretty. the set design and the costume design are swoon worthy. it's like a korean drama but in (british) english! hence, i watched 5 episodes in one night, heh. i can't beat myself up about "wasting time" though -- i haven't indulged in a drama in a long long time. it's good. i highly recommend it!
- the hunger games: "real or not real? real." oh melt. though i wasn't as engrossed in books 2 and 3 as i was with the first book, i thoroughly enjoyed this series. not sure how i feel about the ending yet. kind of bummed that i'll be in costa rica when the hunger games movie premieres, but...i'll be in costa rica, silly!

two questions:
- pass/no pass?
- more bikram? 10 classes? 30 classes?

an amendment:
- no more korea in april, but nyc in june instead :)

and finally:
prepare, repair, care.
working on all of this, slowly but surely.
trust the process, right? we're all on a journey, but at least we're in it together.
