craptastic vs. fantastic.

hi few and faithful blog readers. i've kind of left you dry for the past month. i can't believe it's the end of january already. it's been a crazy month ending with a pretty insane week.

so we'll go through the craptastic versus the fantastic of this month. let's start with the craptastic last week that i've had:

craptastic

- i was having a really great catchup breakfast with a dear friend last saturday and i came back a whopping ONE minute late to my parking meter. $58 parking ticket - WOO HOO! s'okay. i had had such a fabulous time at breakfast that it was no big deal. i feel like i'm feeding my starving government. 

- this week i got sick with a sore throat and kind of a congested head. two of the employees at work had had strep throat over the weekend and multiple people were out sick this week. even though i was furiously washing my hands, i still got sick. hasn't been to the point where i can't go to work but i do have a pretty gnarly/sexy voice..

- i volunteered at my church office yesterday to do some admin work. i parked at a meter and checked the sign in front of me and it said "Except Sundays." great. paid the meter and ran down before it expired because i didn't want another ticket like this past saturday...no wait, there's another parking ticket on my car. WHY? because the parking sign BEHIND my car says street cleaning on thursdays. $68 parking ticket. my wallet seriously weeps.

- my work shift yesterday was one of the most frustrating and infuriating experiences ever. can't really go into detail here but i really don't like being treated like a workhorse and/or robot that you can just jerk around. 

this month, on a whole, though has been fantastic. i will end with some really great highlights:

fantastic 

- i went ziplining in catalina! it was exhilarating and so much fun.

- house hunting is a...process. it's actually been a humbling experience and i'm learning a LOT. the house hunt is slow but it's a-okay. we've already lost two properties because they've gone in escrow but something better is out there. oh, and i'm almost finished reading Home Buying for Dummies. heh. 

- i signed up to serve on the connections ministry at church. sad to say bye to the children but it's been a great two years!

- i turned in my medical and dental insurance forms at work. i finally qualify for benefits!
- i bought plane tickets to go visit a dear friend in austin next month! YAYYYY!

- i got to reconnect with a lot of missed friends this month...even hang out with them more than once (what an anamoly!). i wave hi to my boston friends who are probably currently snowed in. i wave hi to my college friends whom i get to enjoy tapas and breakfast and pie and coffee with. i wave hi to my support system whom i get to have dinner with spontaneously during the week (which, btw i need to call you about work last night). i wave hi to my australian girlfriend whom i get to enjoy house hunting stories with and eat bar food with. love.

i hope that's an adequate update. i really mean to blog more often, yelp more often, write emails more often...this year is the year to just DO IT. so i am and i'll try. happy end of the month :) hope it's fantastic!
